Friends Eating and Studying Together

On the night before Jesus was betrayed, Jesus had His most theological conversation with His disciples, and He did so over a meal. Then, He prayed for them until they could repeat the process (John 21:9f). The combination is not accidental. Nourishing our bodies and our souls go hand-in-hand as we seek to do life together as a community. Over the next coming year, we will seek to replicate Jesus’ paradigm in order to better shepherd our church families and to prepare us for the next phase of growth within our church. For a full schedule and more details, click here.

Over the course of the next year, our aim is to strengthen the church by strengthening our families.

Over a shared meal, we will focus on four areas of discussion.

Godly Thinking

Reading Crosstalk, how do we connect the pages of Scripture to our everyday life?

Godly Counsel

Reading Anxiety, Depression, and the Christian Life, what are practical tools which the Christian can use to walk with someone through adversity?

Godly Hope

Reading The Person of Christ, how does our understanding of Christ bring comfort to the wearied Christian?

Godly Doctrine

Reading The Holiness of God, how does the holiness of God affect every aspect of our lives and worship?

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Families have the opportunity to open their home to others. If you open your home, you do not have to cook. If you attend at someone else’s home, you are asked to bring something to eat.

If you have food allergies, let us know when you sign up.

  • The key to spiritual growth is not perfection but consistency; therefore, consistency is our aim. Between each meeting, we will be tasked with reading about 19 pages (which is slightly more than one page per day).

Also, we understand that life happens. Families get sick, families travel, and so forth. Our aim is not perfect attendance; our aim is consistency.

  • After signing up either online or at church, Raymond Presbyterian Church will provide all necessary materials.

  • No! This is not a teaching time but a discussion time. Our aim is to encourage asking open and honest questions. A list of possible questions can be found here under #11.
